Runnero is an AI driven application designed for long distance runners. Serving as a knowledgeable trainer, proactively offering advice to optimize running skills and ensure a smoother journey towards reaching goals.

Months of training, one injury, everything shattered.

Problem

Long-distance running/marathon training is a risky sport with over 50% injury prevalence and 80% musculoskeletal injuries attributed to risk factors like repetitive stress.

Starting with Questions...

How might we provide runners with professional training techniques to ensure their safety and confidence during their training, minimizing the risk of injuries?

Secondary Research

Main User: Long Distance Runners

To gain a deeper understanding of this user's perspective, I conducted interviews with three experienced long-distance runners, each having completed at least one half marathon. Each participant provided new insights and considerations regarding the problem space.

User Persona & Experience Mapping

I broke down the user's interview findings by motivations, pain points, and behaviors and defined a target profile to better empathize with it and prioritize goals according to it's needs.

Exploring with a mapping process allowed me to uncover pivotal moments where runners grappled with strain or injury, which often resulted in disappointment and disruptions in their training endeavors.

Key Learnings

Testing Early and Often:

Testing the prototype with users early in the design process helped catch potential issues and make necessary changes before investing significant time and resources.

Balancing Creativity and Usability

While creativity is important, it should not come at the expense of usability. Striking a balance between an innovative design and an easy-to-use interface is a valuable lesson.
